April 2014 Random & Basement Completion

Daddy would give Melody her little dolly at night and she would fall asleep holding it!

These are kinda out of order, but once the basement was done we were able to put up the crib. We started out putting Melody in there for naps to see how she'd do, and she did great!

Melody discovered her tongue and had to show it off to us.

We don't have a lilac bush, but a lot of my neighbors do, so after church one day we walked home and picked some flowers on the way.  Oh how I love lilacs.

The older Xander gets, means that he doesn't get enough sleep some days, and ends up taking a nap.
I get worried because it looks like he's going to fall off the couch some times.

While running errands, Melody fell asleep holing onto her little book!
Everything that she does just makes us all swoon at her cuteness.

Even though it means that I sleep rotten, I do love being able
to snuggle my baby in bed, just not all the time.

While trying to get Melody used to her crib, Jaina thought she would help her out by giving her as many toys as possible!  I think I have a picture like this of Mara being helped by Xander.

Karri and Jaina had an afternoon of fun that started with us going to Dairy Queen for lunch.

Then the two of them went shopping, and Jaina got a few things for her (early) birthday.

What a beautiful princess Aurora.

Xander is always making amazing Lego contraptions.
This one is a tower crane and it really works!

April 21st was the carpet delivery day!!!!
We were so happy that the basement was done and we could move the kids around.

This is a view of Pat's new toy/display room, which means that I get my own craft room!!!

The little hallway from the toy room, looking into the laundy/storage.

Xander's new room!!!

And that night, he was all moved in and ready to go!

The next day we moved Mara over into Xander's old room.
She was super anxious to be in her own room.

We were finally able to put up my Disney lithographs in her room.
I love how they turned out.

We just put Melody's crib up where Mara's bed had been.

And here's Pat's toy room in all it's glory.

Yay for a finished basement!!

April 2014 Easter

My hot husband and my adorable little girl on her first Easter!!

We had church at 9 am and didn't have time for a basket hunt, so we made the kids close their eyes while we put their baskets on their laps.  They were anxious to peek at what they got.

Jaina was so excited to get a My Little Pony Cutie Mark Crusader: Scootaloo

Mara got a Cutie Mark Crusader also, Sweetie Belle

Xander got 2 Skylanders Swap Force characters to go along with his game!

After church we were able to get a few good pictures with the help of our neighbor Kyle Olsen.

I love being able to catch these moments with my new camera.

Melody is starting to sit up better every day.

Later that day, we went to Mana's for dinner and her annual egg hunt.

What a cute bunny!!

I hope someday we'll be able to get a picture with all 8 grandkids looking,
but Finley wouldn't have it that day. Oh well.

But she was super happy to be able to hold Melody.

Before the hunt.

What a haul!!

Mana got Xander a coin sorter, he was so excited about it too!

The kids got paints from Karri and it was immediately the thing that Jaina wanted to do the next day.

Happy Easter!!!

April 2014 Basement Update / Salt Lake Comic Con FanX

In order to take a shower, some days I would put Melody in her tub on the floor
of the bathroom and she would just sit and jabber while I showered.
But this particular day she fell asleep. It was the cutest thing ever!

After the drywall/texturing was done we spent part of spring break painting.
Morri was nice enough to come and help too.

On April 19th, Pat, Xander, Melody and I went up to Salt Lake Comic Con FanX.
It was so much fun!

Pat & Xander stayed together while Melody and I got in line for the Nathan Fillion panel.

I'm glad that I brought a few outfits for Melody, because she pooped out within the first hour in outfit #1.
So here is outfit #2.

Nathan Fillion!!!!
I met up with Karri, JD, & Chris for the panel. It was great!

Meanwhile, Xander found a shrinking TARDIS

After Nathan Fillion's panel, we hung out for Karen Gillian's panel.

Afterwards I was able to get a picture with Aaron Douglas aka Chief Galen Tyrol on Battlestar Galactica.
I was so excited to get this picture, because I missed out on it back in 2009 when I met a bunch of the cast at San Diego Comic Con. here & here

He even came and talked to Melody! I loved it!

We then headed back into another panel.
This time with Michael Dorn and Marina Sirtis from Star Trek The Next Generation.

Meanwhile, Xander played a round of Smash Bros and WON!!!

Then the boys met Zach Galligan from Gremlins.

Xander was way excited to meet Obert Skye, the author of one of his favorite books: Choke.
He said he liked the name Xander and would maybe put it in an upcoming book!

Karri & I found a TARDIS too!

The boys went to a panel for Studio C, then were able to get a poster signed by most of the cast.
Xander was so excited because he loves this show!

Jason

Matt, Adam, Jason

Mallory, James

Even though we spent most of the day apart,
I needed to get a picture with both my boys before the day was over.

And Melody in outfit #3. Which I made special because...

We got our picture with Karen Gillan who played Amy Pond on Doctor Who!!!

Also, another amazing moment for me was when I was able to meet Gates McFadden from Star Trek the Next Generation.  I was completely obsessed with her when I was a kid. The show was on when I was 6 until age 13. I loved that there was a red head on TV and so I really loved her and the character of Beverly Crusher.  Even though it was a brief moment to snap a picture, I'm so happy that I was able to meet her.
