September 2015 - Lunar Eclipse

September 26th
We had spent all day at Comic Con, got back to Mana's around 5. Mara and I changed our clothes to get
ready to go to the General Woman's Broadcast with Mana, Conli & Sawyer. It was a really great meeting
and I love that Mara can come with me now. Afterwards we went to Taco Amigo for some ice cream! Yumm!

The next day while we were at Mana's for dinner, Melody got into the
cupboard and found the box of Vanilla Wafers and just dug into them.

That night there was an amazing Lunar Eclipse that was also a Blood Moon, because the moon was the closest
to the Earth during the eclipse. The eclipse started to cover the entire moon around 8:15. We had made
it home from Mana's, got the little girls to bed, grabbed my camera and tripod and camped out in the front of
the house. I took a ton of pictures of the different phases of the eclipse, but these are my favorite.

I used a flash on this picture to get a different look of the moon.

It was so fun to stay up with Xander and Mara to watch the moon. Mara ended
up going to bed early, and Xander and I stayed up until after 10:30, but went
to bed before it was completely over. Definitely a fun memory with the kids.

September 28th
Almost every morning after the kids go to school, Melody and I curl up on the
couch and watch a movie. I just loved how she cuddled up with me this day.

It's finally that time of year!  Egg Nog and making Egg Nog shakes!!

Sept 30th
Some days I feel like Melody watches too much TV, but some times it's the only way I can get anything done
in the house. I had looked down the stairs to check on her and saw how she was sitting. It made me smile.

These book ends of mine sure love each other so much.

September 2015 - 3rd Annual Salt Lake Comic Con

It's that time of year again! I love that we get a comic con twice a year!!

Day 1 - Thursday
We took all the kids up after school to check it all out. We were excited to find Dipper and
Mabel from Gravity Falls. We saw a bunch over the three days, but these ones were the best.

Pat found a new Star Wars hat!!

Mara and I chillin on the floor. We had just run back to a booth to buy
plush cat for Mara and were waiting to meet back up with Pat and the kids.

Karri had taken Jaina with her to go to a few booths, then they headed over to the
Kid-Con area. This year they had it in a completely separate room which made it nice
a quite. Jaina just wanted to go to the Tea Party and it made her very happy to play there.

Melody really liked it too and was having fun 'pouring' the tea for everyone. She made me
sit on the stool next to her and would hand me cups then say "Thank You, Welcome".

She even found some flowers and smelled them, then offered it to me to smell.

We found the tiny Tardis!!!

She knocked and knocked and knocked. Then pulled on the handles to try to open it. It was making
her frustrated because as Karri said "She knows it's her destiny to be inside the Tardis"

We even found a droid and K-9 that were made almost completely by 3D Printers!!

There was even a guy making balloon contraptions. So Mara got a sword and Jaina a hat with a heart on it.

We even found Cinderella! Her dress was amazing!!!

Day 2 - Friday
Due to the time of day I was participating in PhotoOps we decided to make a day of it and go up early.
The kids went to school, and Pat went to teach his first class. I picked the kids up around 11, then
Pat, and we were off! I caught this picture of Melody hiding while eating a snack.

An amazing cosplay of Totoro!!

Paper Man!!!!! Pat loves this Disney short.

JD, Karri, Heidi and I had a Photo Op with Jenna Coleman aka Clara Oswald from Doctor Who!!!

While I was at my Photo Op, Pat took the kids back to the KidCon area. It was quite, he could
sit down and Melody could run around a bit. Jaina was so happy to see all the princesses again.

Running, running, running!

We knew he would be here, but while walking around we found Timothy Zhan, the creator of the Mara Jade
and Jaina characters! We had to get a picture of the girls with the man that created their names.

He was awesome and signed 8 books for Pat.

There was a cool pirate ship that kids could play on, but the line was
at least 15 minutes long. Once on board the girls had a great time.

There was a really cool fog cannon that the kids could shoot smoke at people. Jaina got me a few times.

She sure loves the princesses.

Another amazing cosplay of Predator and Aliens. Jaina wanted her picture
with them but they had a wardrobe issue and needed to go fix it.

There was a booth that was promoting a haunted house. Jaina was wanting a picture with this horse. When
she first walked over, there was a man dressed as a skeleton that scared her pretty bad. But she still
wanted to see the booth. She even went inside it with Pat and the other kids. Pat tried to pick her up
and she freaked out and ran to me. But once again, wanted to go back in and look. This girl is so funny.

Had to get a selfie with my man.

This was an amazing balloon creation of an AT-AT.

It was a long day at the con, but Melody finally fell asleep for about an hour.

I love that I have family that enjoys the same things as me.

I quickly changed shirts and had a Photo Op with Marina Sirtis
aka Deanna Troi from Star Trek the Next Generation.

Pat had the kids once again at the KidCon to keep them happy.

We got a quick family picture with the tiny Tardis before we left.

Gotta get a pic with my boy.

Found Merida!!

Melody was so tired of being in her stroller, so I got her out and carried
her for a bit, and even walked with her to the car to keep her happy.

When we got home it was dinner time and so we headed over to a family favorite:
Taco Bell. We had some stickers in the car that Jaina was using that we gave to
Melody to keep her happy. She didn't care that they were on her face.

Day 3 - Saturday
Friday night we got 2 emails saying that we were selected to attend the panel with
Chris Evans aka Captain America. So I texted with JD and Karri and found out that they got
selected too! We realized our whole family (Me, Pat, Xander & Mara) wouldn't be able
to attend and it messed up our plans for dropping Jaina and Melody off to Mana's for the day.
So we were just going to give our 2 tickets to JD. But after a lot of talking, I was able to go
and Chris used the extra ticket. So I got up at 6am, drove to JD's by 7am, then we headed up
to Salt Lake. My ticket said I could enter at 8am, JD's at 8:10, Karri at 8:20 and Chris at 9:20. So
we all split up in our lines and hoped that we would be able to sit together once we got inside.

Since I was in first, I found a chair at the back of a section and waited for JD to come in.
Once he was there we moved back a bit to an empty section, then Karri came in. The lines
were coming in really fast and before we knew it, Chris was in too!  So we were all together!!

Once we were all in it was about 8:45 and then it was time to wait.

The panel was supposed to start at 10am, but it was delayed for unknown reasons
and Chris Evans didn't get on the stage until 10:30. He was so fun to listen too.

He even had a few other people surprise him onstage. Anthony
Mackie aka Falcon and Hayley Atwell aka Agent Peggy Carter.

Right after the panel it was time to go to the Photo Op with him.
JD had an extra spot in his group, so he let me join!!!

It was a long wait, but so cool to meet Chris Evans.

Afterwards I found my people and we got some lunch. Me and the
kids went to get pizza, in a long long line, and Pat got a burrito.

After hanging out for awhile on the floor we headed over to our last stop: a book signing by
Shannon Hale. Mara and I waited for over an hour, but were lucky to be near the front of the line.

She writes the Ever After High books that Mara loves.

We headed out to meet up with the boys to go home. Such a fun Comic Con!

Until next time!!
