The start of Melody's birthday week was a rough one. We had gone out to a movie
while Mana watched the kids. Melody wasn't feeling too well and was crying a lot
for her. When we came back we found out that she had a fever and was just miserable.
The next day was Sunday and we had our monthly dessert night at Grandma & Grandpa Tolman's
house. So we celebrated Melody's birthday that night with the family.
She wasn't too sure about this giant cake in front of her, but while we were singing
Happy Birthday she grabbed at the flame of the candle and burnt her fingers.
The very next day started out normal, she was feeling better and had gotten
messy from lunch, so I gave her a bath. Right after that I noticed that she had
these little bumps all over her arms and legs.
And even on her face.
The next day they progressed into a few blisters and scabs.
Her birthday was the next day and I had a doctors appointment for her already
set up, so we just waited to have her looked at. It ended up that she had
Hand Foot & Mouth. It was just something that had to run it's course,
but I was just sad that it happened on her birthday.
I wanted to get some birthday pictures of her, so I cleared the front room, dressed her up and had some fun.
The night of her birthday we gave her a few presents, mainly just clothes.
The next Sunday I set up her room and had a little photo shoot with her.
We put balloons in her crib to see what she would do.
She wasn't too impressed.
Then we went to Mana's for her birthday celebration for the Ramey side.
We were smart and had her open her presents while all the kids were in the
basement playing, so that way we could focus on her and she wouldn't be distracted.
She was giving all her trash to JD.
This bag was big enough to fit her, so Pat had some fun.
And JD made it rain money on her.
Karri made her cute cake with My Little Pony's
The top of it became her own little smash cake
She wasn't too sure about it, so Pat had to show her what to do.
After that, she was loving it.
Happy Birthday my little one. We are so thankful that you are part of our family.
Here's a collage I made of her each month for the first year.
